The marvel of water on Mars is a handcrafted pair of earrings by Fox & Fable, made with ruby, labradorite, and rhodium plated sterling silver.

The poem

You set your boot in a dry river bed, follow it as it moves through the sere landscape. The sun, your old friend, is a distant wink. The sky barely passes as sky. This is a place of stark red sediment, and yet, it remembers. Deltas flowed here: fanning out. Feeding vanished seas. Nurturing seeds of life.

The making

In each of these dainty earrings, a small ruby rondelle represents our home planet's closest neighbor, often called the red planet. The stone is encircled by a diamond-cut rhodium plated sterling silver ring, a cipher for Mars' thin atmosphere. Below each ring, a labradorite teardrop dangles, flashing blue and gray, twinkling like a distant promise.

A note on materials

Rhodium is one of the rarest and most expensive metals used in jewelry making. A strong, lustrous metal, rhodium adds an extra layer of durability and a captivating finish to sterling silver pieces.

The last of only two pairs made, unless the maker is able to source some very special beads in the future.
