The poem

When the azure of sky just begins to shift silver, it's time to meet your kind. You flock to the wide open places, darting in and out of the waking streetlight's beams, a dance where you merge again and then part with your swift shadow. The moon sits on the horizon, an iridescent pearl rolling across the graying hills. It is almost night, almost night, almost night, and you revel in this liminal time that never fails to fill you.
